The Stanley Parable
You may have heard about this already, but there’s this Half-Life 2 mod called The Stanley Parable that came out a few weeks ago. It’s completely brilliant. You should go play it right now. I’ll wait here.
Okay, played it? One word: holyshit. Amazing meditation on freedom and power. I’ve found five fundamentally different routes through the game, and I’m just stunned by how many different concepts are on offer. The game never preaches at you, either — it asks questions. Was this the right choice? Are you satisfied with your outcome?
I don’t have anything more coherent to say right now. Maybe tomorrow, once my thoughts have steeped a bit; right now I mainly just wanted to tell you that the whole internet is right: this game is incredible.
