Dragonball Z: Sagas System: Gamecube This is remarkably close to being a good game, considering the publisher and the license, but it falls short due to lacking dimension. It is, in fact, a remarkably zero-dimensional game; it lacks depth, it lacks width, and it lacks length. Triple play. The gist of it is that you can beat the whole game and collect all the pickups in about three hours; I know, that's how long it took me. As for alternate play modes, well, there really aren't any. There's the Pendulum Room extra, which allows you to play any of the levels with the wrong characters, and even some bonus characters (including the sadly missing Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien). Fans of the much-overlooked humans shouldn't rejoice too quickly, however, as they are laughably underpowered and will struggle to beat any of the game's major opponents. Meanwhile, across the world from that complaint, Broly is hilariously overpowered and will walk over everything. Harp about accuracy all you want, fanboys, this is not good game design. So why do I rate the game so high, you ask? Because, frankly, despite all its faults, it is a lot of fun while it lasts. The two-player co-op mode is a nice addition, too, though the game becomes even more less difficult. Honestly, I was thinking the whole way through that I was going to give it a 3, but then I had to suffer through the battle with Cell. I won't waste gallons of space describing it, but trust me when I say that reaching Super Saiyan 2 is not an awful lot of fun. In fact, it's a pain in the ass, and it cost the game half a star. |
