Knights of Xentar is the North American version of the Japanese game Dragon Knight III. It is, mercifully, a hentai game that is something other than an obscure choose-your-own-adventure.

The gameplay is rather familiar; wander around the world until you bump into some monsters, and then all your characters line up on the right side of the screen, all the monsters line up on the left side of the screen, and you fight it out. Nothing revolutionary here, though a solid enough base that the series subsequently turned legitimate - Dragon Knight IV was an honest-to-goodness not-porn game. Along the way, you raise levels, collect items, and talk to the screen. Which leads us to...

... The sex. There are two components to the sexual content of a game like this: the pictures and the words. The pictures in this game are well-done (by the standards of 1994) but non-explicit. You'll see plenty of naked women in plenty of situations and poses and positions, including, it must be said, some you may rather you hadn't seen, but you won't see anything more than that. The text is another matter; it describes rather thoroughly the situations you don't see reflected in the pictures. The translation is actually very good, readable and filled with humourous snippets, though, be careful, a good portion of it is devoted to mocking your manhood! Oh noes!

Altogether, you could do a lot worse than this if you're looking for an adult game that actually contains, you know, a game. It has worthwhile gameplay and plenty of girls and sex, but it's very easy. If you want a challenge, go elsewhere.
